Good Food & Good News
The FeastNJ, in partnership with the First Baptist Church of Red Bank, began as a “Dinner Church” ministry with a mission to share good food, good community, and good news with our neighbors at the dinner table. We have been serving free meals every Sunday evening since our first meal on October 17th, 2021. Our dedicated leaders and volunteers spend Sunday afternoons preparing an abundant meal and decorating our fellowship hall to create a welcoming atmosphere. We then share a meal at the table with drinks, coffee, and desserts, starting at 4 p.m. Towards the end of the evening, one of our team leaders shares a story from the life of Jesus or personal testimony, and we offer prayers of healing and blessings for those in the community.
Our attendance started with just two people, then grew to three, five, and then back to two before exploding to 12, 15, 25, and even 45 people on some Sundays. We have connected with nearly 100 neighbors in and around Red Bank. This has led us to add a second evening gathering on Mondays, which tends to have 15-25 attendees and includes an optional Bible study.
Through these weekly meals, we have formed lasting friendships and engaging conversations, played board games, and shared prayers. Jesus once talked about the Kingdom of God, sharing that God wants his table full of people of all kinds: good, bad, rich, and poor. We feel that our dinner church is a step towards fulfilling this vision.
All are welcome to join us for these meals.. The only requirement is that everyone at the table treats each other with kindness and respect. We believe that every individual is created in God's image and deserving of respect and kindness while acknowledging that we are all sinners in need of God's grace.
